How to Create Amazon Shipping Plan?

Shipping to Amazon FBA

Creating an Amazon shipping plan gives Amazon an idea of what they can expect from your shipment once it reaches their warehouse.

When you fill all the information in while preparing your shipment, you must ensure that you are providing all the information correctly. Otherwise, your shipment could get stranded. In this article, we will go step by step on how you can properly create your shipment for Amazon.

1. List Products in Right Category

The first thing you should ensure before trying to ship your products to Amazon’s warehouse is that your product should be listed in the correct category because if your products fall under any restricted or a different category and to bypass that, you list your products in another category, your inventory may not be accepted in Amazon FBA warehouse.

Even if your inventory gets accepted, you may face many issues later, so you should spend time reviewing all the details, understand the requirements and provide all the correct information to ensure that you have listed your products in the correct category.

2. Send or Replenish Inventory

Once you have ensured that your products are listed in the right category, you should go to your FBA inventory in Amazon seller central and then select all the products that you need to replenish your inventory;

After that, you can select the option send/replenish inventory; once you choose this option, you will be taken to the next page and asked for all the details related to the products.

3. Generate SKU Labels

Once you go to the next page, you should first ensure that you have the correct “ship from” address. After that, you need to generate the SKU labels and send them to your freight forwarder, which will be put on each unit you plan to send to the Amazon FBA warehouse.

You need to follow this standard procedure with all the products you want to send to the Amazon FBA warehouse.

4. Prepare Shipment

Once you generate your SKU labels, you will have two options to choose from: create a new packing template and individual units; when you choose individual products, you can customize the packaging for each one individually, whereas when you create a new packing template, you can establish a standardized packaging instruction that can be used with numerous products in your FBA shipment.

After that, you need to fill in the total number of units you want to send to the Amazon FBA warehouse. After filling in this option, you will be taken to the next page, where you will be asked if your products will fit into one box or if multiple boxes will be needed.

If all of your products fit into one box, you just need to put the dimensions and weight of one carton, while on the other hand, if your products need multiple boxes, you will need to put the dimensions and weight of all the boxes.

You need to ensure that any side of the carton should not exceed the maximum limit, which depends upon the various categories of the products, like small-size products, standard-size products, and oversized products.

5. Choose Delivery Option

After filling in all these details, you will have two options: small parcel delivery and LTL (less than truckload). Small parcel delivery, as the name suggests, is suitable for smaller shipments that one person can handle easily; less than truckload or LTL shipment is for larger shipment that does not fill the entire truck but is larger than small parcel delivery.

6. Schedule Your Shipment

After selecting a small parcel delivery or LTL option based on your requirements, you can select a date and select either Amazon partner carrier or any other carrier of your choice; if you are shipping your products directly from China, you should select the option your freight forwarder suggests.

According to the new Amazon policy, you must provide a “delivery window,” which is an estimated date range of when you expect your shipment to arrive at our fulfillment center; this can help Amazon restock your products faster in Amazon’s warehouse.

7. Generate Box/carton Labels.

You can generate carton labels from your seller account and send them to your freight forwarder, and now your only job is to wait for your products to arrive at Amazon’s warehouse and go live.

8. Changes in Amazon warehouse’s policy

If you are a new Amazon seller and plan to ship your products to Amazon for the first time, you should be cautious in placing your first order with your manufacturer. Because in the beginning, when you have no sales history, you will be given very little space in Amazon’s warehouse to send your products.

You should examine the capacity monitor in your Seller central; this will give you an idea of the exact number of units you will be allowed to send to Amazon’s warehouse, this way you can plan your first order with your manufacturer accordingly if your products start selling at a good pace then you can expect Amazon to give you more warehouse space in the foreseeable future.

9. Consider 3rd party warehouses

If you live in the same country as your Amazon marketplace, you can even store extra inventory in your house if you do not get sufficient space in the Amazon warehouse.

If you do not live in the same country as your Amazon FBA marketplace, you can consider a good 3PL warehouse service that can store your products and prepare and ship your products once your existing inventory runs out from Amazon’s warehouse.

10. Contact Amazon seller support for help
